How to add the EU legal guarantee notice to your Shopify store

What the notice is

From 27 September 2026, traders selling goods to EU consumers must display a harmonised notice about the legal guarantee of conformity. Its design and content are fixed by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960: a set title, a pictogram, a QR code to Your Europe, reference colours.

Nothing in it may be edited. You cannot recolour it, retype it, translate it yourself or redraw it to match your theme. Online shops display it prominently — for example as a general reminder on the site rather than on every product page.

The slow way

Download the official files from the European Commission's page (24 languages, SVG, PNG and PDF), pick the right language, upload it to your theme, and place it somewhere prominent.

The fast way

ClaimSafe EU ships the Commission's own files, byte for byte, in 15 EU languages. Install the app, open the theme editor, add the "EU guarantee notice" app block wherever you want it — the footer is the usual choice — and it renders the correct language for your storefront automatically.

The button on the app's Notice page opens the theme editor with the block already added and selected, so you only have to drag it where you want it and press Save.

Two display modes: the full notice, or a compact line that expands. If your storefront language is not one of the 15 bundled, the block shows your chosen fallback language and warns you about it in the theme editor, so you can upload the official file for your language instead.

If you press that button twice you will end up with two notices, because Shopify's link always adds a new block rather than checking whether one is already there. Open the theme editor, select the extra "EU guarantee notice" block and delete it.

What about the GARAN label?

GARAN is separate and optional. It is only for a free commercial guarantee of durability longer than two years covering the whole product. Its fields — duration, producer, model — are yours to fill in, which is why ClaimSafe EU cannot bundle it pre-filled: you download the official label, complete it, and upload it in the block settings. If you do use it, remember the commercial guarantee statement also has to reach the customer in a durable medium no later than delivery.

Common mistakes

Editing the notice to fit your brand. Showing it in the wrong language. Using GARAN for a paid extended warranty, which it is not for. And treating the notice as a replacement for the rest of the directive — it is an information duty that sits alongside the rules on claims, not instead of them.
